High-capacity modular facility for the sterilization of medical waste

Brief Project Description

The project “High-Capacity Modular Medical Waste Sterilization Facility” establishes a new business organization for the innovation consortium and introduces changes to the business processes of the Beneficiary (Enerkon d.o.o.) and its two partners (Šela proizvodnja d.o.o. and TP strojevi d.o.o.).

Through the commercialization of an innovative medical waste treatment facility with different capacity options, the project creates the conditions for establishing long-term supplier relationships with an integrator company, with the aim of significantly improving hazardous waste management services. Through innovative technology, the medical waste treatment facility will enable reliable sterilization, volume reduction, easier transportation, lower treatment costs, and recovery through conversion into energy.

Project Objectives and Expected Results

The overall objective of the project is to establish cooperation among three SMEs in order to create an innovative product, establish long-term supplier relationships with an integrator, and integrate the participating companies into the value chain.

The specific objectives to be achieved through project implementation are:

• creation of at least 11 new jobs by 2024,
• commercialization of a new product for the market,
• implementation of new methods in the production and logistics processes of the three SMEs,
• implementation of innovation in the business organization of the innovation consortium members,
• establishment of long-term supplier relationships with the integrator and integration of the three SMEs into the value chain,
• use of private capital as an addition to EU public funding in an amount exceeding HRK 8,451,000.00,
• an increase in sales revenue of more than HRK 14 million resulting from the commercialization of the new product for all consortium members.

Total project value and EU co-financing amount (in HRK)

• The total project value amounts to HRK 16,080,338.16
• Total eligible costs amount to HRK 14,255,116.62
• The EU contribution to project financing amounts to HRK 7,591,808.31

Project implementation period

1 June 2020 – 1 June 2022.
