Šela proizvodnja d.o.o. is a company with more than 120 years of tradition in metalworking, based in Zagreb, Croatia. Our company traces its roots to the original workshop, which was established in 1947 and remains active today in an expanded form. Through many years of dedication to our work, we have built a reputation for excellence among our clients.
In its modern form, the company has been operating since 1947, as a natural continuation of a century-long tradition of metalworking in the family workshop. The company was originally established to produce metal castings for Croatian Railways.
During the 1990s, our cooperation with Croatian Railways continued, and our company took over the production of brakes and brake components for railway transport, gradually becoming the leading and only certified supplier of braking systems for Croatian Railways. The knowledge and experience gained through this cooperation, confirmed by numerous awards and recognitions, enabled us to secure new projects with leading companies in the railway sector in Croatia and neighboring countries.
The largest donation in the newly established Republic of Croatia: the restoration of the monument to Ban Josip Jelačić, presented as a gift to the City of Zagreb. The statue was completely restored through a demanding process of restoration, precise reconstruction, and reassembly of all its structural elements, restoring its original appearance and structural stability.
At the beginning of 2001, we established UPIG d.o.o. with the aim of developing and strengthening our market position in the field of urban infrastructure, including benches, bus and tram shelters, bicycle racks, and other municipal equipment. Through cooperation with foreign partners, the company gradually became involved in renewable energy projects as well.
In 2007, VENTAL d.o.o. was established, focusing on the production of public transport equipment. Continuous investment in technology and employee development enabled us to expand our production program to include metal structures and welding, further strengthening our market position.
UPIG and VENTAL were later merged into Šela proizvodnja d.o.o.
